Our Story
Why Keksi & Co was created
We had always dreamed of creating something of our own — a place that felt truly ours, where we could bring our ideas to life and do things our way. When the opportunity finally came, Lappeenranta felt like the right place to start. We wanted to bring something fresh and a little different to the city — and cookies felt like the perfect place to begin. After all, who doesn't love a really good cookie?
The founders
We're Alisa and Erik, originally from Belarus and Hungary, and today we call Lappeenranta home. Food has always been something we've loved sharing — cooking, experimenting and creating new things together. Living and travelling around the world gave us plenty of inspiration along the way, especially from the bakeries and pastry shops we discovered. Keksi & Co is our way of bringing a little of that inspiration to Lappeenranta, mixed with our own ideas and made with a Finnish touch.
Our philosophy
Our philosophy is simple: high quality, done right. We love the classics, but we're never afraid to experiment — combining traditional baking with new ideas, unexpected flavours and a little creativity. Most of all, we believe that something special doesn't need to be saved for a special occasion. A really good cookie, a great cup of coffee, a moment to yourself or with someone you love — sometimes that's reason enough to celebrate. That's what we want Keksi & Co to be: authentic, a little special, and the kind of place you want to come back to.
How we make our cookies
Everything we serve is made by us, with care. We bake fresh every day, using quality ingredients, keeping preservatives to a minimum, and choosing local and seasonal produce whenever we can. For us, good baking starts with good ingredients — and we don’t believe in shortcuts.
Community
At heart, Keksi & Co is a family bakery made for our community — whether you’re stopping by for a little treat on the way home, catching up over coffee, or bringing something sweet to share. We also love being part of what happens around us, from working with local businesses to creating special collaborations like our SaiPa cookie. And we hope Keksi & Co can be more than just a café — a place that brings people together through events, music, creativity and, of course, really good cookies.
What's next
Keksi means cookie in Finnish — and cookies will always be at the heart of what we do. But Keksi & Co was never meant to be just about cookies. From specialty drinks and carefully selected wines to cakes, macarons, events and experiences, we want to keep exploring what a modern bakery-café can be. And while our story started here in Lappeenranta, we hope it won’t end here. Our dream is to bring Keksi & Co to other Finnish cities — and, one day, beyond Finland to the Nordics.
